ZMK Construction Wins Prestigious 2018 People in Preservation Award

SAN DIEGO, CA – June 2018 – Michel Khozam CEO & Founder of ZMK Construction, an award-winning architectural and design build firm specializing in residential and commercial restoration, was honored with the 2018 Save Our Heritage (SOHO) People in Preservation Award.
Michel Khozam, along with partners, John Eisenhart and Eva Thorn with Union Architecture, were recognized for their outstanding preservation efforts in completely revitalizing an abandoned and deteriorating church from 1906 located in San Diego’s East Village Community.
The church, once a meaningful place for a Mexican congregation, was run-down and covered in graffiti until Khozam, Eisenhart, and Thorn worked tediously to bring it back to life.
The SOHO organization called the project an “immaculate restoration” that now stands as “a charming and important landmark representing the city’s historic Mexican community.”
“We’re honored to receive such a prestigious award from the Save Our Heritage Organization,” commented Michel Khozam. “Our team is extremely passionate about maintaining San Diego’s cultural history and charm for the whole community, visitors and future generations to enjoy.”

ZMK Construction and other award-winning contractors, architects, and civic leaders in San Diego were recognized at the 36th Annual People in Preservation Awards ceremony in May.
